Meer informatie

Shown is a beautiful large coffee pot with lid made by the Italian ceramics manufacturer Bassano. This is handmade in majolica, in particular tin-glazed earthenware and overglaze hand-painted with a polychrome floral decor. The tin glaze is slightly crackled. The coffee pot stands on four slightly curved legs. It has a globular cylindrical corpus with relief decoration that merges into a long cylindrical neck, slightly spreading upwards. On top we see a godroned dome-shaped lid with a handle in the shape of a pomegranate at the top. On the left there is an S-shaped spout and on the right a circular handle with thumb projection. We also call this type of coffee pot a barbotine, as three flowers, connected by a stem, are placed in high relief at the transition between the body and the neck. The flowers and petals were all individually handmade from a semi-liquid slip and hand-painted with various enamel colors and combined into one flower. The inside of the coffee pot is also pewter glazed. At the bottom is “Bassano Made in Italy” in manganese color. This coffee pot dates from around 1960.

Condition: perfect.
