Presented is a beautiful antique French 18th century chest of drawers. It has a rectangular corpus consisting of three drawers projecting centrally forward, with traverse, and with escutcheons and pullers in gilt bronze with Louis XVI ornamentation such as the bow motif and the profile of Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour. Inside we see the original wooden shelves. Various woods were used for the marquetry. On the front it was inlaid with geometric motifs referring to the ancient culture. In the central part a decoration of a mandolin and music book is inlaid. The apron is wavy along its length. The sides are beveled and the side is inlaid with a large floral motif in an oval outline. The chest of drawers rests on four curved legs that end in a sabot and ormolu. At the top, the chest of drawers is covered with the original 18th century marble top in white with black linear stripes. The top has a stepped rise and has a central rectangular cut out at the front, thus following the structure of the furniture. This is a typical Transition piece of furniture, situated between the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI, ca.1760.

Condition: some signs of aging, small piece of veneer is missing, otherwise in very good condition.

Gepresenteerd wordt een prachtige antieke Franse 18^e eeuwse commode. Deze heeft een rechthoekig corpus bestaande uit drie laden die centraal vaar voren toe uitspringen, met traverse, en met escutcheons en trekkers in verguld brons met Louis XVI ornamentiek zoals het strikmotief en de beeltenis in profiel van Louis XV en Madame de Pompadour. Binnen zien we de oorspronkelijke houten legplanken. Diverse houtsoorten werden gebruikt voor de marqueterie. Aan de voorzijde werd dit ingelegd met geometrische motieven verwijzend naar de Antieke cultuur. In het centrale gedeelte is een decor van een mandoline en notenboek ingelegd. Het apron is over zijn lengte golvend. De zijkanten zijn afgeschuind en de zijkant werd ingelegd met een groot floraal motief in een ovale omlijning. De commode staat op vier gebogen pootjes die eindigen in een sabot en ormolu. Bovenaan is de commode bedekt met het originele 18^e eeuwse marmeren blad in wit met zwarte lijnvormige striëring. Het blad heeft een trapsgewijze verhoging en is vooraan centraal rechthoekig uitgesneden en volgt zo de structuur van het meubel. Dit is een typisch Transition meubel, te situeren tussen de regering van Louis XV en Louis XVI, ca. 1760.

Conditie : enkele ouderdomssporen, klein stukje fineer ontbreekt, verder zeer goede staat.
