Shown is a beautiful set in Chinese eggshell porcelain of a cup and saucer. The saucer is round scalloped and deep and is hand painted. On a white glaze layer, in the center, in a black circle, a more decor has been painted with in the foreground a long list whose skirts a child holds on to, with a gesticulate older child next to it, this next to the contours of a house. They are all standing in front of a fence. They are polychrome overglaze brushed in various enamel colors such as pink, light green, purple, blue, orange and black. In the distance we see a village. In the border we see scattered leaved pink flowers. The edge is bordered with a black-grisaille wavy frieze. The back is, except for the foot ring, fully glazed. The cup stands on a white high foot from which the circular corpus slopes outwards at an acute angle to end in a wavy rim. There are two oval cartouches bordered in black on the corpus. In one cartouche we see two young men, painted polychrome. In the other a young man with outstretched arms in front of a house with a more landscape in the background. Enamel colors used are blue, green, purple, orange and black. Leafy pink flowers have been painted between the two cartouches. The interior is glazed in white with a frieze of a wavy line in black grisaille on the edge. In the center a feather in iron red. The underside, except for the foot ring, is fully glazed. The cup has no ear. Neither cup nor saucer are marked. They date from the late Chien Lung Imperial period, ca. 1770.
Condition: The saucer has 1 small hairline on the edge and 1 small flake on the stand ring. The cup has 1 hairline on the edge and 2 small flakes on the base ring. Hairlines are barely visible.
