Meer informatie

Shown is a beautiful Chinese porcelain set of a large hand-thrown deep round bowl with matching spherical knob vase. The deep bowl is hand-painted on a milky white glaze in a famille rose pallet, with a mandarin decor consisting of a family with parents and two children and a dog, outdoors under a tree and on a rock, beautifully painted. The edge of the shelf shows a meander pattern that is partly gilded. The high externally curved elevation shows an underglaze blue diaper pattern of oval rhomboid drop-shaped elements arranged in between, with retention of the white glaze in between. Recessed are four round corrugated cartouches, each with a famille rose decor of a rock with flowers. The edge is painted in underglaze cobalt with a frieze of rectangular stylized floral panels. The outside has been left completely blank, with the rotating rings illustrating the handmade shape. The underside, except for the foot ring, is glazed. This includes a spherical vase with a vertical foot that merges into a globular corpus, narrowing to a relatively short cylindrical neck, ending in a garlic-shaped thickening. The body and neck have the same underglaze cobalt blue diaper pattern as the bowl. The corpus has two large oval and two small recessed cartouches. The large ones are painted with a slightly varied decor as on the shelf of the deep bowl and the two small ones with a rock and flower decor. The neck also has two elongated corrugated cartouches with a floral decor. The bottom, except for the foot ring, is glazed. This set dates back to the 18th century, Chien Lung Imperial period, ca. 1780-90. Very nicely decorated work.

Condition: chip on the foot ring of the bowl, hear line bottom base visible with U.V. light, otherwise perfect.
