Daum frères is, next to Emile Gallé, the most important name in the production of Art Nouveau glass in France around the 1900s.

This glass manufacturer in Nancy, Lorraine, succeeded in producing unique specimens as well as artistically refined mass production of glasses. The latter did not become clichéd in series production and, in terms of decoration and material, retained the charm of the unique, hand-crafted. A perfect relationship between art and industry took place.

Presented is a beautiful polychrome coupe with U-shaped conical body with oval-shaped rim, extended in two places, and standing on a round raised base. This art glass is inlaid with various color powders and is overlaid on a yellow-green frosted rough background with two layers of glass that are acid-etched using the cameo technique. It forms a decor of black blackberries and stems and leaves. At the bottom we see a nice smooth pontille. The object is signed in cameo with “Daum Nancy and the cross of Lorraine”. Art nouveau period. Dating from around 1900-10.

Condition: perfect.
