More information

The object described is an antique English hexagonal plant holder. It is hexagonal, consisting of three wide (13 cm) and three narrower (10 cm) vertical surfaces in burr walnut veneer with a flat plateau at the top. Two gilded copper medallions with a round clasp ring are attached to the side. At the bottom, the panels change into four S-shaped cabriole legs, presumably rosewood with a sculpted widening with C-curls at the top and a cloud-shaped element in between, also sculpted. At the bottom they change into a round foot with claw feet. Inside matching hexagonal copper tray with two copper rings at the top. Mixture of 18th century neoclassical and rococo elements, typical of the historicism of the 19th century.

Condition: good, copper tray is slightly torn at the bottom, the spherical claw feet are sawn off at the bottom to be more level with the floor.
