Presented is a large special dish in Japanese Imari porcelain. On a light gray-white covering, the overglaze is painted with iron red, turquoise, black, lilac and white, and in blue underglaze. The flat is painted with a light blue circular motif with swinging arms like an underglaze octopus, surrounded by a blank band which is itself surrounded by a wide band with napkin work and three cartouches bordered in thick blue with a chrysanthemum in gilded enamel with point-shaped decoration. on a background in turquoise. Three cloud-shaped cartouches have been left out on the broad, slightly curving platform and edge. Defined by a thick blue outline, the turquoise background is painted with a stylized lotus flower in gilded iron-red color and with points. In between, three zones are painted with swirling wide iron-red bands with gilded spots. In between and in between there are several herons in flight in white enamel with black feathers. Here and there copious gilding. Part of the rim also contains tableware. At the back of the collar there are various symbols hand-painted all around in underglaze blue. In the center of the bottom we see one remnant of a proen, compatible with early Japanese porcelain. The piece is not signed. Very special decoration with a swirling yet harmonious whole. This dish may date from the early Edo period, last quarter of the 17th century. Top work!

Condition: a few dots in the glaze, otherwise perfect. Top work!
