Meer informatie

On display is a special paperweight in opalescent clear satin-finished solid glass pressed into the moulle, made by the glass factory of René Lalique in Wingen-Sur-Moder in France and called “Taureau Sacré”. This was made to order from the Royal Dutch Mail Lloyd Rotterdam for a maximum number of 100 around 1938. It depicts an Indian sacred bull resting on its legs, with solid head and padding on the back with bell in front. It stands on a rectangular raised flat base with rounded corners and with a frieze of pearls. The paperweight is signed at the bottom with a rare diamond engraved text “ROYAL DUTCH MAIL LLOYD ROTTERDAM” and “R.LALIQUE FRANCE”. If you look closely, a female figure with naked breasts and an Indian dress is visible, partly brown patinated. To be dated around 1938.

Condition: perfect.
