Oil on panel, post-impressionist Kempen landscape
Panel : L 21 cm H 15.5 cm With frame : L 30 cm H 24 cm
A beautiful oil painting on panel is shown. It is painted in a Post-Impressionist style where a snapshot is rendered in a blurry way. The subject is most likely a Kempen landscape decor. In the center of the panel is an elderly man with a walking stick between, on the left, a farm with an adjacent tree, and shrubs with two large pollard willows on the right. The foreground shows a mixture of green, brown and yellow. The man steps to a distant village with a church tower, painted in light grey. The sky there is rather dark and painted with a rather turquoise color. The sky nearer is very light yellowish bluish brushed. A diffuse crazing is noticeable. In the lower left corner the work is signed by hand, “Aracin”??. I couldn’t find this name. The work is undated but I suspect it was made around 1900. The panel has a gilded rectangular frame with pearl work.
