Shown is a vintage ceramic ironstone round plate from the Royal Tudor Ware collection, with a blue and white transfer printed decoration of 17th century England, “BOWANS BREWERY”, made in England and engraved by W.N. Mellor. The plate is stamped on the back with the Royal Tudor Ware registration. Contrary to what the name suggests, Ironstone is not stoneware but a hard type of pottery. The sign dates from the mid-20th century.
