The Saint-Clément pottery factory, located 12 km. distance from Lunéville, it was founded in 1758 by Jacques Chambrette, who also owns a pottery factory in Lunéville. With this second factory, he focused on the higher segment of the market with prestigious pieces. As a result, the factory was designated as an official supplier for Marie-Antoinette’s Trianon. In 1892, the factory was then sold on to Keller and Guérin, who also own the Lunéville pottery factory. In 1922, Edouard Fenal, who was also owns the pottery factory in Badonviller, and owns the factories of Saint-Clément and Lunéville. Today, the factory is part of the Sarreguemines group. Presented is a round scalloped plate with an exceptional decoration of a purple elephant in the center, shown in profile, standing in green blades of grass. The border includes green leaves and purple flowers. The lip is also colored purple. On the back we see the early Saint-Clément mark in black. 18th century.
