Presented is a beautiful porcelain pot pourri decorative vase with lid and handle. It concerns a Sèvres Louis XVI egg-shaped vase with a dark blue background color (bleu du roi) with elaborate hand-painted glossy gilding and gilt bronze setting. The vase stands on a square, tucked-in raised bronze gilt base with protruding rectangular corners and panels with granular and bay leaf decoration. This turns into a separate band-shaped round gilt bronze design in which laurel leaves and pearls can be seen. Above, the porcelain vase begins with a round bell-shaped rejuvenating base with stem. Bow motifs and laurel garlands, hanging jewels and seed beads have been applied to this in thick glossy hand-painted gilding. Via a round gilded bronze decorative element, the porcelain continues, fitting into a rod-shaped element and on a flat bronze plateau that is pressed with the letters “XXC”, into a U-shaped structure with a high perforated gilt bronze gallery at the top all around. Inside, the vase is closed by a circular bronze plate narrowing and closed in depth. Two gilt bronze handles are attached to the gallery. They are circular with a split structure at the top and tapering over the corpus. They are decorated with palmettes and are centrally tied with a small round loft with pearls. At the top we see a dome-shaped lid with bronze base and gilded decoration. At the top is a round band-shaped gilded bronze structure that opens through a trunk into a handle consisting of leaves with several round open pomegranates. On the inside of the lid is an apocryphal Sèvres overglaze blue mark with 2 intertwined “L’s” within which the letter “E” is painted on a small capital letter “S”. Although it is a later vase than the letter “E” suggests, it is of superb quality that is rarely encountered. However, it was made in Sèvres itself in Louis XVI style. Top work!

Condition: perfect.
