Meer informatie

We show a beautiful porcelain campanula shaped large bag and saucer, most likely German or Bohemia, made in the 19th century, Biedermeier style. The bag has a hand-painted polychrome decor of a Scottish-looking walker in a landscape. The bag stands on a round base, with a cup-shaped body with a widening edge. Two gilded friezes are painted on the edge. The corpus is, apart from the decor, completely gilded. The inside shows a beautiful milky white glaze that is completely gilded all around at the top. The raised handle is staff-shaped and is partially gilded. The round underbag stands on a non-glazed round base ring. It is almost completely gilded with the exception of the white glazed circular center with a circular gilded narrow band in the center. The bag and underbag were probably made in a German or Bohemian 19th century manufacturer, but further details are lacking. There is no mark. The setting of the walker in a landscape points towards the Biedermeier period (1815-1848).

Condition: moderate damage to the gilding of the underbag, otherwise perfect.
