We are showing a special Chinese imperial porcelain hemispherical rice bowl. A detailed hand-painted polychrome dragon decor is embossed on an imperial mustard yellow ground. Two dragons fight over the burning pearl. They both have a green monstrous head with a red tongue and a light pink beard. The coiling body consists of numerous scales with bipeds with a five-clawed foot. An additional body part ends in a dark blue fungus on one side and a dark red fan on the other side. The other dragon also has an analogous body part. The large flaming pearl is painted in red enamel. At the base is a green frieze of waves with white striped fine vertical outgrowths, each with a green dot above it. The border consists of a concentric green band incised with a black colored meander. Both the foot and the edge are edged with a silver band. The latter transitions to the internal border into a frieze of small connecting semicircular elements. The entire inside shows a white clear glaze. The underside is glazed white with the exception of the fairly high, narrow base ring. Inside the base ring, the nianhao consisting of six characters of Emperor Guangxu is centrally placed in hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue. This imperial bowl from that period was thus made around 1890.

Condition: some damage to the bottom silver band, otherwise perfect.
