Meer informatie

We show two miniature porcelain vases, probably made in Vieux Bruxelles or Bohemia. On a hexagonal base, a cylindrical spreading trunk departs into a round oval rim with two indentations and a raised scalloped back surface. Applications in the form of rudimentary leaves are applied to the edge of the trunk. The edges and back are gilded, as is a gilded laurel wreath under the floral motif, and the base is also gilded all around. Over time, this gilding has flaked off to a significant extent. A polychrome floral decor is hand-painted on the front of both vases. We see roses, asters, cornflowers, etc. The back only shows the milky white glaze. The origin of such vases is difficult to determine, but I think of Vieux Bruxelles or Vieux Paris. One vase is imprinted on the glazed base with the capital “D”, the other vase has the same marking. We date these vases around 1900.

Condition: gilding has flaked off to a significant extent with time, otherwise perfect.
