Meer informatie

Presented is a large, relatively heavy flat round decorative dish in Japanese Arita porcelain. This is hand-painted on an ivory-like cover polychrome with the most striking colors iron red, green, brown, a brown-orange, blue, purple and black. The large flat is completely painted with a figural decor of a richly dressed geisha with servant who is handed a document by a third person. They stand in the open air in front of a fence with lampposts, in a floral setting. Richly applied gilding. The purple color of a lotus plant is striking. The surface is outlined with a black concentric line. The border is outlined by a blue circle. The lip is painted brown. The large border is surrounded by four blue concentric lines. Between these lines the border is painted on an iron-red ground with eight cartouches with mosaic pattern, white rosettes and feathery branches. The plate is completely glazed on the back, except for the base ring. The border is completely painted all around in underglaze blue curl work. In the center at the bottom we see the remains of three proons, which indicates a Japanese origin. There is no mark. The plate was probably made in the 1st half of the 18th century during the Edo period.

Condition: perfect.
