Antique Chinese low round polychrome pedestal
H 49 cm W 47 cm top Ø 34 cm, strap at the bottom Ø 35 cm
Here we see a magnificent antique low round, richly hand-sculpted plinth. The plinth rests on five convex low legs. It has a five-lobed thick top that is inlaid at the top with a five-lobed polychrome hand-painted figural decoration of three children playing on a swing under a tree. The edge of the top is inlaid with a black meander frieze, as is the edge of the top. Narrowing at first, the top changes into an oblique spreading band with ruji-like elements and black hand-painted geometric motifs and scrollwork. The ruji motifs merge into five convex legs with black geometric motifs connected at the bottom with a circular wavy lobed wooden band. Five flat supports at the bottom. Certainly 19th century work.
