Meer informatie

Primitively made but very charming pepper and salt set. Two horses, placed in opposite directions, both wear a band with two baskets in the center. The horses have relief molded hair that is painted in manganese in high fire. The baskets are also painted in high fire colors under the bluish-white glaze in blue and yellow ocher. At the bottom we see the rosy-red fine-grained pâte. The object is not marked. Judging from the primitive shape, the greasy tin glaze and the quickly applied high fire colors, I suspect a late 17th century origin. Is it Delft? Nord du Normandie? Rouen, Lille ? I do not know. Although primitive in shape, this object has a fresh, lively appearance.

Condition: very good for its age.
