Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur Wilhelm Liebmann was founded in 1850. Most of the factory was demolished in 1858 in an explosion. it was rebuilt by Liebmann with the help of his business partner Wilhelm Oertel. In 1884 the factory was bought by Alfred and Carl Wilhelm Voigt. The subsidiary Unterweißbach was opened in 1890. In 1896 the company was converted into a limited company. Financial problems resulting from the Woi and later World Financial Crisis forced the factory to close the Unterweißbach facility in 1928. Four years later, the financial situation improved thanks to the efforts of Reinhold Rebhan and Max Krauße. New owners named the factory Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur A.G. During World War II, factory production was concentrated on war-related items. In 1958 the East German government began to influence factory management. In 1972 it was nationalized. In 1990 the Sitzendorf plant was privatized. Production was discontinued completely in 2012.

We present here an unbelievably beautiful porcelain square wall mirror, made by the German porcelain manufacturer Sitzendorf. The quality of the sculptural work and painting are exceptional. The condition is also incredible: virtually no injuries. The mirror has a square shape with a round top in which an extra small mirror is fitted. The frame shows a white ground richly gilded with rococo arabesques. Over the entire surface we see extremely meticulously full of plastic sculpted different types of flowers, very detailed, on a background of green leaves and moss, and hand-painted in polychrome. In addition, no fewer than six full plastic putti, hand-painted in polychrome, are spread over the frame. The mirror itself is original and (as can be expected) shows signs of aging. The small mirror at the top is in perfect condition. There is a wooden support board at the back. This is truly an exceptional work of art! The near perfect condition is almost unbelievable but true. At the top of the rim we see the underglaze blue mark with crown and “S” mark of the Sitzendorf manufacturer. It can be dated around 1910. Top work!

Condition: just perfect, the mirror does show signs of age, but this is normal wear and tear and fits such an antique old work of art. Note: The appropriate lighting with three S-shaped arms on a flat base can also be found at European porcelain under Sitzendorf luminaire
