Amalric Walter was one of the pioneers in France to work in the glass industry during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period with pâte de verre, a kind of glass paste of different colors that was applied in a mold and fired at a temperature of approx. 1000 degrees. Before 1914 he worked for the Daum Frères company, and after the first world war he started his own company, developing objects in the art deco style while retaining the characteristics of theArt Nouveau. One of his most important designers was Henri Bergé.

Presented is a shield-shaped pendative with frosted yellow background on which in relief a black-colored cockchafer with globuleus corpus with shield, legs and antennae. There are two round holes at the top for cord and tassel. The initials “AW” are placed in the center of the mold at the top. To be set in the art deco period ca.1925.
