André Delatte was born in 1887. He received his training as a maître verrier from the Muller brothers in Lunèville. In 1921 he opens a small factory near Nancy. He quickly succeeded. However, he had to close it due to harsh economic conditions. He tried to establish a new factory “Art et verrerie”, but it had to be closed permanently. Delatte’s naturalistic vases that were acid etched in the Art Nouveau style, however, go against the then prevailing Art Deco style. He usually signed with ADelatte Nancy, the A and D affiliate, with the word Nancy underneath. The letters are displayed horizontally, sometimes circular. The brand “Jarvil” is rarely seen. He died in 1953. The object offered is a beautiful, slim ornamental vase with two polished ears that merge into each other at the top. On a smooth background in turquoise and greyish cloud pattern all around in dark purple with varying hue in cameo, a decoration of a wisteria is acid-etched. The vase stands on a round purple, slightly raised base. At the bottom of the corpus, the vase in cameo is etched in purple with “ADelatte” and “Nancy” underneath. The underside of the base is completely polished smooth.

Very good condition. There are some irregular stripes on the base against the vase, but these are baking errors, no damage.
