Delft faience deep plate with contoured rim with cracking decoration in underglaze blue and white hand-painted floral decoration after Chinese Wanli kraak porcelain example. Bright white background hand painted with clear underglaze cobalt blue. The flat shows a double-lined circle in which behind a rock an open lotus plant with outlined leaves and bushes and is circled with ruji motifs. Subdivided further by two radially oriented lines in panels each in which an open and closed lotus flower alternately. At the elevation we see a band with crosses filled with dots. The border with relief elevations also has panels in each case separated by two radially oriented lines and are also alternately filled with closed and open lotus flowers. On the edge there is a frieze of crosses and dots. The front was crimped with a translucent, shiny lead glaze. The back shows a ribbed pattern up to the unglazed base ring on which two thick concentric lines. The flat base also shows a blue circle with the capital letters “CB” and a star in underglaze cobalt. Leftovers of must. The “CB” of the “de Star” factory stands for Cornelis de Berg (active 1720-25).
Condition: Normal edge flakes but otherwise in perfect condition.
