More information

Volkstedt is one of the most famous manufactures in the Thuringian territory, founded in 1760 by the Greiner family.

Presented here is a monkey with a white shirt, turquoise overcoat and pink shorts. He is wearing a yellow hat. In his left hand he blows a flute, while around his left arm hangs a drum on which he beats with a drumstick in the right hand. At the back, its tail is wrapped around a tree trunk. It stands on an almost circular, flat, slightly arched base with gilded C curls. The base ring is not glazed at the bottom, but the sunken base is. On it we see in underglaze blue the stamped mark of the factory and the gilded number “28”.
