Meer informatie

Volkstedt is one of the most famous manufactures in the Thuringian territory, founded in 1760 by the Greiner family.

Pictured here is a hard porcelain monkey figure made by the contemporary Volkstedt Rudolstadt factory. It is a monkey figure of a conductor. The monkey wears a light blue shirt with a yellow cloak. Also burgundy breeches and a gold-plated tricorn hat on the head. In his left hand he holds a white score with black staff and on his left side hangs a brown violin. The baton seems to be missing from his right hand. At the back he leans against a tree trunk. It stands on an oval, slightly raised base with gold-plated C curls. The base ring is not glazed at the bottom, but the sunken base is. It has the underglaze blue factory mark stamped on it and the gold-plated number “8”.

Condition: baton is missing, otherwise perfect.
