Meer informatie

Jean de la Fontinelle (1900 London -74 Paris) was both a painter and ceramicist. The factory producing his crackled pottery was possibly the now closed Auguste Mouzin et Cie (AMC in Wasmuël, Henegouwen, Belgium). He signed in black or in blue, while one other Louis Fontinelle signed in red-brown.

It concerns a figure of a fish in earthenware covered with a creamy white finely crackled glaze. The fish is shown in oblique profile with a sense of movement and open mouth. Rather flat at the front, clearly rounded at the back. Gills, tail and dorsal fin are accentuated. The figure rests on a hexagonal raised base. The image is slip cast cast. It is marked on the front in black with the stamped name “Fontinelle”
