This is an original silk round tablecloth polychrome hand painted with various geisha and servants all around. The piece is bordered by a gilded edge. Three of the geishas hide under black umbrellas worn by servants. It is framed behind glass. This does not seem to me to be a “tourist” item, but it is used by the Japanese themselves. There are transparent stickers all around, perhaps to prevent tearing of the silk? The work is not signed and was apparently used purely as decoration in the household. I think it was made in the 2nd half of the 19th century or early 20th century. Very decorative.

Condition: good, with stickers all around.
