Presented are two antique Japanese porcelain tea bowls. Starting from a low round base ring, the bowl spreads out in a U-shape to form an externally curving edge with a thin circular edge. They are very thin, in eggshell or Usu-de-yaki, and translucent. Both are overglaze hand-painted on a milky white glaze. Polychrome decors with overglaze colors such as green, rose, manganese, violet, blue, yellow, orange, black,…. One bowl with four cartouches in which a floral and a character (including a geisha) subject alternately. The other bowl continuously shows a decor of a fisherman who prepares for fishing at home and sets out. The colors are also translucent. Very thin circular vertical stand ring. Both are fully glazed at the bottom and marked with a six-part character, hand-painted in red overglaze. Both bowls date from the 2nd half of the 19th century and may have been produced by the Mikawachi factory.
