Meer informatie

Volkstedt is one of the most famous manufactures in the Thuringian territory, founded in 1760 by the Greiner family.

On display is a hard porcelain monkey figure made by the factory of Volkstedt Rudolstadt in the 20th century. The monkey is wearing a purple shirt with vertically striped shorts below. In his left hand he carries a score while playing a bombardon which he is holding with his right hand. At the back he leans against a tree trunk. It stands on an oval, slightly arched base with gilded C curls. The base ring is not glazed at the bottom, but the sunken base is. . On this we see the underglaze blue stamped mark of the factory as applied in the 20th century. We also see a pressed digit “10”.
