Meer informatie

The presented object is a Chinese porcelain fairly thin-walled teapot with a recessed round lid and a metal handle. The jar has a spherical globuleus corpus that merges via the shoulders into a smaller, low cylindrical neck. On both sides, in line with the S-shaped spout, there is an oblique vertical perforated ruji-shaped projection on both sides to which the handle is attached. The lid has a cylindrical neck on which are painted three concentric parallel lines, which are recessed into the corpus, with a larger round flat plateau. There is no foot. Under a light bluish-white covering in cobalt blue with various shades, on both sides of the corpus is a floral decor with hand-painted shrubs that grows on both sides of a tree trunk. The decor is outlined in darker blue and washed with lighter shades of blue. The spout is painted on the front with a serpentine line. The lid (usually fired elsewhere) has a geometric line motif on the rim, and the central indentation is lined with a circular blue line with central leaves all around. Two concentric lines run at the bottom. The base ring is baked orange brown, as well as the interior of the neck in dark brown. We feel a few grains of sand on the inside of the base ring. The teapot is not marked on the glazed base and was thus clearly made for the European export market. All this points to an origin during the late Qing dynasty, ca.1580.

Condition: one of the vertical protrusions on the shoulder is broken and was once glued, but this is barely noticeable. Otherwise completely intact.
