We present you a so-called Kendi or water jug ​​in Chinese porcelain. It was made in or around Jingdezhen and has a white pâte covered with a light blue covering. It has a typically squat spherical body with a cylindrical neck and mammiform spout. It stands on a low broad circular base. In some places the pâte is colored red during the baking process, which indicates a Ming object. It is hand-painted all around in cobalt purple-blue under the cover. The decor consists of flowers and tendrils, a scale pattern on the shoulder and stiff leaves on the neck. Scattered over the surface there are several concentric rings. The neck, which was used as a handle, widens a bit at the top and has a silver collar with arabesques and Arabic characters applied in Asia. It is imprinted on the edge with the number “900”. The slightly convex bottom is glazed at the bottom, except for the base ring. Dating back to the imperial period Wanli c. 1600.

Condition: the covering sometimes has a granular appearance with a brown spot at the bottom of the body and small baking flaws. However, it remains a very beautiful decorative and functional object with silver trim.
